Our journey is one of strategic growth, technical innovation, and enduring partnerships, forged in Australia’s most demanding sectors.
We started out as Heat Exchangers WA (HEWA) in 2003, a specialist team ready to take on WA’s toughest industries. We quickly earned a reputation for quality work, landing our first major contract with Alcoa in 2005. The real turning point came in 2007 when Steve Sammut bought the business, bringing a new energy and a clear focus on ambitious growth and looking after our customers.
With new leadership, things really took off. Between 2008 and 2011, we grew fast, forming key partnerships like becoming the WA representative for EVAPCO. This new capability helped us win major work with industry giants like South32, tackling huge jobs like the 26-tonne PHE at their Worsley refinery in 2013. All that success meant we needed more space, so in 2014, we moved into our massive 4000m² workshop in Beckenham—still the biggest of its kind in WA.
When things got tough for everyone in 2020 with the COVID storm, our team showed what we're made of. We made sure our people and partners were safe while still showing up for Australia’s critical industries. The trust our clients have in us shone through, as we renewed four major contracts with South32, Chevron, Alcoa, and Ixom and still had another year of record sales, proving we’re a partner you can count on, no matter what.
Our momentum continued from 2021, marked by a new contract with Vermillion and a strategic partnership with global leader Kelvion. This rapid expansion brought a wealth of diverse expertise under one roof, creating a clear need for a new, more focused structure. We didn't slow down. In 2021, we kept the momentum going, winning a new contract with Vermillion and partnering with another global leader, Kelvion. We then brought boiler specialists Boilertronix into the family in 2024 and expanded our workshop again in 2025 to fit everyone in. It was clear we had become more than just a heat exchanger company. That’s why we created Genovex—a family of brands where each team can focus on what they do best, giving our customers the expert support they deserve.
